Content will be saved by micropayments.

That hopeful prediction by a LinkedIn columnist is the latest in a long line of data-techy type solutions put forward that will “save journalism.”

I’m not holding my breath.

#BigIdeas2015 may indeed include an increasing prevalence of micropayments but these are unlikely to benefit journalism much.

That’s because any payments will go to parent companies, who will continue sacking journalists by the thousands, as they have since as far back as Watergate.To his credit, Walter Isaacson, the CEO at the Aspen  …
